These objectives are achieved through information, education and training initiatives.

AFP - Family Solidarity

AFP - Family Solidarity offers a wide range of counselling services for families, parents, children, adolescents, individuals, organisations and institutions.

AFP - Family Solidarity is made up of a multidisciplinary team including psychologists, educators, special education teachers with additional therapeutic training, social educators and administrative staff.

ALAEC - Association Luxembourgeoise d’Aide aux Enfants Cardiaques a.s.b.l.

ALAEC - Association Luxembourgeoise d’Aide aux Enfants Cardiaques a.s.b.l.

The Association Luxembourgeoise d’Aide aux Enfants Cardiaques (“Häerzkrank Kanner zu Lëtzebuerg”, abbreviated as ALAEC) was founded in January 2002. Its main mission is to support children with heart disease and their parents, alongside treating cardiologists, during the key moments of their journey.

The association’s main objectives are:

  • To facilitate contact between the people concerned;

  • To organise regular meetings, exchanges and information sessions;

  • To raise public awareness of the challenges faced by children with heart disease;

  • To provide social and psychological support to children and their families;

  • To offer administrative and financial guidance;

  • To support research into congenital heart disease.

ALAEC has been recognised as a public-benefit organisation by Grand-Ducal Decree since 15 January 2022. Donations are tax-deductible as special expenses within the limits of Articles 109 and 112 of the Luxembourg Income Tax Act (L.I.R.). The association also signed the Volunteer Charter on 5 December 2014.

ALSF - Luxembourg Association of Midwives

The Association Luxembourgeoise des Sages-femmes (ALSF) is the official representative body for midwives in Luxembourg.

It represents both hospital-based and independent midwives.

The association aims to:

  • Defend the interests of the profession;

  • Promote high-quality maternity care;

  • Contribute to policies that support the health of women, children and their families;

  • Support the initial and continuing education of midwives.

ALUPSE - Luxembourg Association for Social Paediatrics

ALUPSE - Luxembourg Association for Social Paediatrics

ALUPSE-Dialogue is available to any family experiencing a crisis and to anyone concerned by situations of abuse or violence. The service supports cases involving children, adolescents and young adults up to the age of 21 who are victims of physical violence, psychological violence, sexual abuse, neglect and/or institutional abuse.

ALUPSE-Bébé supports situations in which pregnant women or mothers who have recently given birth face multiple difficulties that may affect the parent-child relationship. Its mission is to implement early preventive measures against attachment disorders and to provide support as early as possible. The work focuses on the interaction between mother, father and baby, with the aim of promoting healthy development and preserving the family environment. Referrals are made by professionals and discussed during multidisciplinary meetings.

BEE SECURE

he aim of BEE SECURE is to promote safer, more responsible and positive use of digital technologies among the general public, particularly parents, who play a key role in guiding their children and setting a positive example.

BEE SECURE is a government initiative of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, operated by the National Youth Service (SNJ) and KJT, in partnership with the Luxembourg House of Cybersecurity, the Luxembourg Police and the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. The programme is coordinated by the SNJ and co-funded by the European Commission. Government involvement is ensured by the Ministry of Education, Children and Youth, the Ministry of the Economy, and the Ministry of Family Affairs, Solidarity, Living Together and Reception. BEE SECURE is part of the European INSAFE network (awareness centres) and INHOPE network (hotlines for reporting illegal content).

The Biergerpakt is a programme of the Ministry of Family Affairs, Solidarity, Living Together and Reception of Refugees that promotes intercultural living together. It offers a wide range of free activities open to everyone living or working in Luxembourg, including information sessions, guided tours, workshops and social events designed to help participants discover the country, its institutions, its languages and its culture, while meeting new people.

Whether you have recently arrived in Luxembourg or have been living or working here for many years, the Biergerpakt invites you to explore the country together with others and strengthen the connections that foster living together. Participation is voluntary and free of charge.

Sexual health is a state of physical, emotional, mental and social well-being in relation to sexuality.

  • It is not merely the absence of disease, dysfunction or infirmity.

  • It is an essential component of overall human health.

  • It includes reproductive health.

Therefore, promoting sexual health requires:

  • A positive and respectful approach to sexuality and sexual relationships.

  • The possibility for everyone to have safe and enjoyable sexual experiences, free from coercion, discrimination and violence.

CIGALE – Centre for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Intersex and Queer+ Communities

The Centre for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Intersex and Queer+ Communities (CIGALE) organises a variety of events for Luxembourg's LGBTIQ+ community and works to promote greater visibility and non-discrimination of LGBTIQ+ people in society.

CIGALE is a community centre that provides a welcoming and inclusive space for members of the LGBTIQ+ communities. It offers health workshops, social and peer support groups, as well as individual consultations for LGBTIQ+ people, their parents and relatives.

CIGALE is also a competence centre that provides training on sexual and gender diversity for a wide range of professionals, including those working in formal and non-formal education, social services, public administrations, youth services, medical and psychosocial services, and businesses.

Its activities are aimed at children, young people and adults, as well as parents, older adults, socio-educational professionals and anyone interested. Autonomy and creativity are at the heart of its approach, providing a collaborative environment that encourages everyone to take an active and creative role in shaping their own lives.

The Familljen-Center is an open, non-denominational and politically neutral organisation that plays an established role within Luxembourg's psychosocial support network.

It sees itself primarily as a centre of expertise for relationship issues.

Its work with and for families is based on four areas of intervention:

  1. Therapeutic counselling, family therapy and counselling, couples therapy and counselling;

  2. Psychological counselling, socio-educational support and family guidance;

  3. Family mediation;

  4. Family education and psychodynamic group programmes.

Femmes en détresse a.s.b.l.

The association aims to provide effective protection against violence for women, their children and young girls through the development and management of shelters, accommodation services, information centres and counselling services.

It offers temporary accommodation, with or without support, to women using its services and reception centres.

The association helps improve women's living conditions by supporting their social and economic integration through psychological, legal and social assistance, as well as specialised training opportunities.

Within some of its services and reception centres, the association also provides psychological, legal and social support to boys and men in vulnerable situations, particularly those who are victims of violence or human trafficking.

In addition, the association may carry out any activity or operation that contributes to achieving, promoting or facilitating its mission.

Founded in 2018, Fondation Solina brings together three organisations: Aarbechtshëllef, Jongenheem and Solidarité Jeunes. It provides assistance, support and guidance to minors, young adults and adults facing social or psychosocial difficulties, based on the principles of equal treatment and non-discrimination. Its mission is to create an environment that promotes personal development, autonomy and social inclusion.

Fondation Solina is committed to being SOLidary, INclusive and Accompanying towards the people it supports, in line with the principles of humanistic psychology. It strives for excellence through the quality of its staff and resources. Its social, educational and therapeutic services enable personalised support that respects each person's individuality and diversity. The complementarity of its different structures allows for a holistic approach tailored to individual needs. To fulfil its mission, the Foundation works closely with a wide network of professionals and partner organisations.

HALTO a.s.b.l.

HALTO a.s.b.l. is a network for families and people with caring responsibilities, particularly parents, informal caregivers and families living with disability, illness or specific support needs in their daily lives. HALTO creates opportunities for exchange, shares information and resources, and aims to help families feel less isolated while providing practical guidance for everyday life.

INAPS – National Institute for Physical Activity and Sport

With the entry into force of the law establishing the National Institute for Physical Activity and Sport on 1 October 2023, the National School for Physical Education and Sports (ENEPS) became the National Institute for Physical Activity and Sport (INAPS – Ministry of Sports).

Compared with the former ENEPS, INAPS has been given an expanded and modernised mission to better respond to society's growing needs in the fields of physical activity and sport.

INAPS aims to serve as a national centre of expertise and resources, committed to continuously improving the quality of sport and physical activity in Luxembourg at every level.

This objective is achieved through the training of technical and administrative sports professionals, teachers and educators, as well as by providing guidance and support to organisations and institutions that play a key role in sport and physical activity in Luxembourg, including ministries, national and local public authorities, and sports federations.

Info-Handicap – National Council of Persons with Disabilities (CNPH) is a federation currently bringing together 58 organisations of and for people with disabilities. It promotes cooperation between its member organisations, raises awareness of equal opportunities and the right of people with disabilities to participate fully in society, and identifies gaps in the field of disability in order to develop effective solutions in cooperation with the relevant public authorities.

The CNPH represents the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg within the European Disability Forum (EDF) and manages the National Information and Meeting Centre on Disability. This service provides information and guidance to anyone seeking advice on disability-related issues. It also promotes accessibility, organises training courses and carries out awareness-raising activities for people with disabilities as well as the general public. Its main objective is to address disability-related issues and contribute to a more inclusive society.

InfoMann aims to promote a broader diversity of male roles and attitudes in an open and constantly evolving society. Equal opportunities for everyone and respectful, fair social relationships require the commitment of all people, including men. The realities experienced by men and boys are diverse, and InfoMann recognises and values this diversity.

Its work encourages self-awareness, reflection on personal roles and attitudes, self-confidence based on respect for others, and the assumption of responsibility towards oneself and the community. These activities are offered through a variety of programmes and in different settings.

KJT – Kanner Jugendtelefon & Elterentelefon

KJT – Kanner Jugendtelefon & Elterentelefon

Kanner-Jugendtelefon provides counselling and support to children and young people, as well as to the adults who care for them. It offers help with everyday concerns, questions, worries, personal difficulties and crisis situations.

Elterentelefon (Parents' Helpline) is a confidential telephone listening, counselling and information service that provides parents and other interested adults with prompt, professional and anonymous support on often challenging parenting issues.

All telephone conversations are free of charge and completely anonymous.

Ligue Médico-Sociale

Ligue Médico-Sociale

Since 1908, the Ligue Médico-Sociale has been a pioneer in the medical-social and social sectors throughout Luxembourg. Through its work in medical-social services—including the prevention of respiratory diseases, school health, health education and promotion, and smoking cessation support—as well as in social services, such as social guidance, over-indebtedness prevention and professional reintegration, the organisation places prevention at the heart of its mission.

Its 140 professionals, working across 13 medical-social centres, directly and indirectly support nearly 100,000 people every year, representing around one sixth of the population of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

The Ligue Santé Mentale (also known as the Ligue Luxembourgeoise d’Hygiène Mentale) is a non-profit organisation founded in 1956 and active in the field of community mental health care. It brings together several services formerly known as the Centre de Santé Mentale, Centre Kompass, CIP and others.

The organisation operates under agreements with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Social Security. Some of its initiatives are also supported by the Œuvre Nationale Grande-Duchesse Charlotte.

"Luxembourg is mobilising for mental health!" is the slogan of the Mental Health Weeks, organised every two years since 2018 by the Ligue Luxembourgeoise d’Hygiène Mentale (D'Ligue) and its Information and Prevention Centre. MEGA – Ministry for Gender Equality and Diversity

"Making equality between women and men a reality" is a commitment shared by the entire Luxembourg Government. The Ministry for Gender Equality and Diversity (MEGA) leads and coordinates efforts to promote equality between women and men across all areas and levels of society.

Raising public awareness about the consequences of unequal or discriminatory representations of women and men is one of MEGA's core missions. Since its creation in 1995 (then known as the Ministry for the Advancement of Women), the ministry has launched numerous awareness campaigns addressing key issues related to gender equality. These campaigns often focus on challenging gender stereotypes and traditional roles assigned to women and men. To ensure a coherent approach across all ministries, MEGA has developed the National Action Plan for Equality between Women and Men, which identifies existing gaps and sets objectives for achieving equal opportunities within the public sector.

The National Museum of Natural History welcomes visitors across three buildings located on either side of Rue Münster. Each building has a specific purpose. The Saint John Hospice houses the Natur Musée, featuring both permanent and temporary exhibitions. The Education Centre includes three classrooms dedicated to environmental awareness and education activities for young people, particularly school groups.

The Scientific Research Centre contains six laboratory offices and two collection storage facilities. A team of researchers, together with numerous volunteer scientific collaborators, study the museum's collections and contribute to its scientific research activities.

OKAJU – Ombudsman for Children and Young People

The OKAJU (Ombudsman for Children and Young People) promotes, protects and defends the rights of children and young people under the age of 18. It works to ensure that every child is respected, heard and protected, regardless of their origin, language or personal and family background.

As a free, independent and impartial service, the OKAJU does not take sides and is not attached to any court or political authority. Its role is not to judge, but to support children, young people and those around them, helping them understand the situations they face and find fair and appropriate solutions in accordance with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Children and young people can contact the OKAJU if they believe that their rights are not being respected. Parents, guardians, professionals and anyone working with or supporting children and young people may also seek its assistance. The OKAJU provides a listening ear, advice and, where appropriate, refers people to specialised services. It may also intervene with schools, institutions or relevant services to remind them of children's rights and encourage their implementation. If no agreement can be reached, the OKAJU may issue recommendations within a specified timeframe. Recommendations of general interest may be published in an anonymised form.

With the support of interdisciplinary experts, the National Office for Children (ONE) assists children, young people and families in Luxembourg by providing support measures designed to protect the well-being of every child.

SCAP – Consultation and Support Service for Attention, Perception and Psychomotor Development Disorders

SCAP – Consultation and Support Service for Attention, Perception and Psychomotor Development Disorders

The SCAP is an outpatient consultation and support service for children and young people aged 4 to 18 with attention, perception or psychomotor development disorders. It also supports their parents and teachers. Its multidisciplinary approach addresses difficulties related to psychomotor development, perception, attention and their associated consequences through:

  • Guidance and orientation;

  • Developmental assessments;

  • Medical evaluations;

  • General and condition-specific counselling for parents and teachers, as well as opportunities for peer exchange;

  • Individual and group therapeutic support;

  • Regular collaboration with the professionals involved in the child's care;

  • Training programmes for professionals tailored to specific target groups.

The SCAP's multidisciplinary team includes physicians, occupational therapists, special education teachers, learning therapists, motologists, speech and language therapists, educators, psychologists and psychomotor therapists. All SCAP services are free of charge and are available in the central, northern and southern regions of Luxembourg.

School Mediation Service

A service at your disposal: the Mediation Service for School Retention, Inclusion and Integration.

The School Mediator handles complaints relating to:

  • Keeping students at risk of dropping out in secondary education;

  • The inclusion of pupils with special educational needs;

  • The school integration of children with an immigration background.

The following people may contact the School Mediator:

  • Parents or legal guardians of minor pupils;

  • Adult students;

  • Education professionals.

SKKD – Service Krank Kanner Doheem

The Service Krank Kanner Doheem provides one-to-one home childcare for sick children.

The service enables parents to continue working or attending training while allowing their children to recover in the comfort and security of their familiar home environment. Requests from single-parent families are given priority.

Childcare is available from Monday to Friday, between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
Each visit must last at least 4 hours and may not exceed 9 consecutive hours.
From the second day of care, a medical certificate may be required.

The staff of the Service Krank Kanner Doheem are trained in the social and family care sector and regularly take part in internal training courses organised by the service.

Trauerwee a.s.b.l.

Trauerwee supports children, young people and their parents after the loss of a loved one. The association provides a safe and supportive environment where children and young people can meet others who have experienced a similar loss. Through sharing their experiences, expressing their emotions and participating in adapted activities, they learn healthy ways to cope with grief.

Trauerwee also supports parents in understanding and accompanying their grieving children.

In addition, the association offers training and guidance for professionals, such as teachers and educators, to help them better understand the grieving process and the needs of bereaved children and young people.

Trauerwee believes that no child should have to face the loss of a loved one alone.

"Nothing is more valuable than enriching your knowledge, whatever your age." This is the guiding principle of UniPop, a joint initiative launched by the Ministry of Education, Children and Youth. It brings together public institutions, semi-public organisations and private partners from a wide range of adult education fields. UniPop is founded on the belief that everyone has the desire and the ability to learn, grow and develop throughout life.

UniPop values learning at every stage of life and goes beyond the transmission of academic knowledge. It also embraces so-called "popular" culture and offers activities covering the arts, sciences, well-being, physical activity, crafts and the promotion of living well together.

Up Foundation is dedicated to advancing education. It works to promote the success and well-being of children, young people and learners in Luxembourg, while fostering equal opportunities in education. The Foundation initiates and coordinates educational projects, supports and connects existing initiatives, encourages public discussion on educational issues and brings together a wide range of stakeholders committed to improving education.

ZEV – Centre for Excessive Behaviour and Behavioural Addictions

Activities that begin as harmless leisure pursuits or enjoyable hobbies can sometimes become excessive and negatively affect both the individual and those close to them. Among young people, excessive use of smartphones, video games or social media can leave parents feeling helpless despite their best efforts. Gambling, compulsive shopping, sex, pornography, work or excessive exercise can also develop into behavioural addictions, leading to serious psychological, social, health and financial consequences.

The ZEV provides information, counselling and therapy for people affected by behavioural addictions and their families. It also offers preventive guidance for parents on healthy media use within the family. In addition, the centre provides training on behavioural addictions and supports youth services and schools in their prevention work through parent information sessions, workshops and thematic projects.

The Centre for Political Education (ZPB) promotes active citizenship by fostering a better understanding of democracy and today's societal challenges. Its multidisciplinary team encourages children, parents and the wider public to participate in civic life and public debate.
