About us

Parent forums are places for discussion, information and support, for all parents.

They are welcoming places where parents are supported and strengthened in every dimension of their parenting.

The Eltereforum Department operates preventively, following an approach based on parents' strengths and needs.

Parent forums make networking easier; they use a wide range of partners with competence in parenting.

Our mission

Exchange

Parent forums encourage discussion and connections between parents, as well as between parents and professionals. They foster collaboration among a wide range of qualified partners and promote an evidence-based, up-to-date approach to parenting.

Information

Parent forums make it easier to access high-quality information on parenting. They serve as information hubs and actively help raise awareness about parenting throughout society. Their mission also includes recognising and valuing parents in their parenting role.

Support

Parent forums support, guide and empower parents in their parenting role. They provide assistance whenever needed and stand by parents throughout the different stages of their children’s lives. Parent forums support parents while respecting their individual circumstances and resources.

01

A service accessible to all parents, from pregnancy until children reach adulthood

Our service is open to all parents, grandparents, guardians and close family members, regardless of their family situation, social or cultural background, place of residence, sexual orientation or specific needs.

We take parents’ needs into account according to the child’s stage of development, whether during pregnancy and early childhood (0–3 years), childhood (4–12 years) or adolescence (13–18 years).

02

Valuing and strengthening parenting skills

Our support builds on parents’ own strengths and resources, highlighting their abilities and potential. Parents are supported and empowered while taking their personal situation and current circumstances into account. We believe that confident and supported parents are better able to support their children.

03

Early prevention

Our interventions aim to act early and identify the first signs of vulnerability or difficulty as soon as possible. Particular attention is given to pregnancy and the first thousand days of a child’s life.

04

Awareness and information

We are committed to raising awareness among the general public, as well as institutional and political stakeholders, about parenthood and the importance of parenting support. We inform parents about their rights and responsibilities and about the services and schemes available to them. We listen to parents, identify their needs and requests, and integrate them into our mission.

05

A commitment to quality

Members of our multidisciplinary team (internal and external professionals) have training and/or experience in fields related to parenthood. They benefit from shared resources, opportunities for discussion, analysis and continuous professional development. They work together so that parents benefit from their complementary expertise. We carry out both quantitative and qualitative monitoring, collect feedback and continuously adapt our services while evaluating their effectiveness.

06

Co-creation, listening and kindness

Our support is developed together with parents while respecting the uniqueness of every family. It is based on listening, dialogue and interaction, free from judgement or obligation. It aims to strengthen human relationships, encourage the sharing of information and promote collaborative problem-solving.

07

Resources, exchanges and information

Our meeting places and digital platforms are accessible, welcoming and provide a safe environment for families and professionals. They encourage the sharing of information, practices and experiences while offering parents carefully selected parenting resources.

08

Guidance and referral

We support and guide parents in their parenting role within the limits of our professional expertise and, where appropriate, refer them to qualified specialists.

09

Respect for equality and diversity

We promote gender equality in parenting while respecting diversity in all its forms.

10

Promoting social cohesion

We contribute to living together by ensuring fair access to resources and services, embracing all cultures and providing particular support to vulnerable families.

11

Networking

Our teams work together with local, regional, national and international partners to strengthen support for parents and to act as a facilitator within the parenting sector in Luxembourg.

12

Commitment and development

Given the wide range of approaches and disciplines related to parenthood, we believe it is essential to adopt an open and caring attitude that embraces a diversity of resources. We continuously monitor developments in the field of parenthood and consider ourselves a learning organisation.
